MEET THE ARTIST
LUCILENE SOUZA
As a true artist I have always been creative, but a few years ago I found myself looking for a new outlet where I could expand my creative skills. When I saw a women's woodworking class, I jumped at the opportunity, having a feeling that this was the right option for me.
Even though I've always been interested in woodworking, signing up felt a little rebellious. Woodworking is a male-dominated space, but I believed I could do it- and you know what? I was right!
Now's there's nothing I love more than empowering others to get interested in woodworking and other art forms, but I also find joy in having my kids witness my growth as a creative entrepreneur.
I chose the name "Cardinal Atelier" for my business because cardinals are a great significance to me. These songbirds represent someone you've lost returning to visit you. It's a symbol of hope and joy- two emotions I feel deeply when creating my art.
The process of creating is deeply intuitive to me. When I'm creating this art, I truly believe it already has an owner, and at the right time, they will come along. I love seeing shop items make their way into the perfect home as much as I love creating personalized gifts for families to cherish for years to come.
